i drew it with a fountain pen. then photoshop editing occurred. then i posty and now you're reading my caption. the key to a good ink drawing is all in the solid blacks. in my opinion at least. and the key to good usage of solid blacks? no idea.
this week's draw off was paul's picking. he chose "popular cartoon characters in their lowest form" or something. thanks to hanna-barbera and corbis for (not actually)letting me use their copyrighted material in a completely inappropriate manor.
this is a poster for my good friend's band SMYTH. they are super good and you should go see them. now. the white part will be printed on separate regular paper, cut out, and then pasted on the poster. so they can use it for upcoming shows, without having to reprint. cost effective and involves glue stick! sweet!
i have this shaolin workout book (don't ask) and its got some great pics in it. i had to draw one of them. look at those slacks! ill probably draw more soon. in the book he's wearing shoes that actually say "More Chi!" and "Train Harder!" on the sides of them. amazing.
i've never actually liked the cyclops. i think he looks like a moron. and he creeps me out. one eye! for crying out loud! that's nasty. but i can't exclude him from the mythological whatevers. so i'm getting him out of the way. this is the sketch. to be continued...
i just got a fountain pen for inking. ive never used one before and its going to take a little getting used to. unfortunately fancy pens don't make up for lousy drawings. next time ill have to plan it out a little more.
this here is a minotaur. the second to what hopefully will be a series of mythological whatevers. vector art, same as the medusa. the less-is-more style takes a lot longer than expected.
i wasnt really sure what to do with this after i finished the form. so i took the easy way out and gave her summer attire. ill probably do something else with it later. mostly likely a less graphic color job. and maybe ill add alligators. this was inspired by eric canete's work. he is way good.
